The Absolute Zero Of Activity

Time Asleep Last Night - 03:42
Official Time Awake This 'Morning' - 15:06

Yesterday's burst of frenetic activity was duly rewarded with a day of complete idleness, which is so low on the scale of activity and events that it doesn't even make it up to the level of "nothing happening". It is like absolute zero is to the freezing point, a marker by which other temperatures take their relative importance, a low which cannot be attained.

Not that doing nothing can always be said to be a low. I find mindless procrastination and wandering quite enjoyable, but then again I would, being an arts student.

That's all I have for you today. So instead, go look at some absolutely insane Christmas Lights.

The Two Speeds Of Organisation

Time Asleep Last Night - 03:54
Time Randomly Awaken This Morning- 08:51
Time Eventually Dozed Off - 10:03
Time Properly Awoken - 12:35

This morning I was rather confused when I woke up, as I seemed to have my mouth stuck to my arm. Upon detaching it at the second attempt, and then eventually deciding to try and see what had done this, I discovered that I had impressively managed to cut my lip in my sleep, and proceed to bleed all over my arm, therefore sticking it to my chin with blood. A rather strange awakening. Having done the sensible thing and washed it off, I then did something even more sensible and went back to bed again. So today was the first day I 'officially' got up in the afternoon. It must be official, the blog says so.

Today was marked by a burst of sudden events, which surprised me. I'm reminded of the comment from those vast e-mail listings of qualities about Chuck Norris/Mr T/Vin Diesel that seem to be all the rage at the moment - if you want them, feel free to ask and I'll forward them on - which suggests that Vin Diesel only has two speeds; walk and kill. In a similar fashion, I only have two speeds myself; fast asleep and frenetic activity.

So this Wednesday was marked by frenetic activity. I managed to do all my Christmas shopping, navagating the marauding crowds of chavs, mothers and screaming brats with consumate style and skill to pick up all the presents I needed within a short space of time; then return home in time to get a haircut which I had booked only this very afternoon. So here was a sudden burst of activity which impressed me; all this accompanied within only a few hours! I also managed to do various menial household tasks like return the ladders to the shed, having used them to store my collection of cardboard boxes for electrical goods in the loft.

Tomorrow I will be back on the fast asleep speed. However, it is only now two and a bit days until Christmas. Whether that has any bearing on my speed, we have yet to see.

Shops Need a 'Psychic Purchases' Helpdesk

Time Asleep Last Night - 02:11
Time Rudely Awaken This Morning- 08:41
Time Returning To Sleep - 08:52
Time Properly Awoken - 11:19

Another day passes, another day gone in the world with all it's many happenings. Another day closer to the future. Although technically we are always closer to the future than we were before, by it's very definition. The whole concept of the future is rather silly. People talk about what they want in "the future" as if it's some hazy place in the distance, shimmering on the horizon like a giant mirage. When the future equally applies to something in five minutes' time. I've no idea why I've taken this sudden detour onto the realities of time and it's fragile existence, and why we fail to appreciate it, but hopefully it's enlightening for you.

This morning I was rudely awoken before the proper time, as the timestamps indicate, by my sister demanding money for the bus because she'd overlsept and missed her lift into work. I've always got to love how she never has money herself for these sorts of things. I suppose it makes me some sort of great person who's always there to help. Or perhaps I'm just organised. Who knows.

The title of today's entry is really a comment on how silly the suggestions that you should be able to buy someone a present without them actually telling you what it is they want. You're expected to turn such helpful comments as "I don't know!" or "Oh, anything!" into fully gift-wrapped presents, preferably with a bow and ribbon too. So I'm declaring my intentions to do nothing of the sort of guessing, and not going out to buy anything until I'm told what it is people want, instead of making wild stabs in the dark. Yes, this does mean I will be shopping on Christmas Eve. At the last minute. No, I don't care. It's their fault if they don't get what they want for not telling me sooner.

Routine Returns to 'Normality'

Time Asleep Last Night - 02:54
Time Awake This Morning- 11:12

Well, I am pleased to announce today that my sleeping routine has returned to something approaching normality. Although, as what I would define as a normal sleeping routine is different to others, perhaps it would be more accurate to say it's approaching abnormality. Regardless of the relative levels of normality, it suffices to say that I am going to bed in the early hours of the morning and should be waking up in the early hours of the afternoon. I've not quite got back into the swing of things yet, so I woke up late morning, but the thought was there.

I've developed the theory that I'm not sleeping as long as I would usually because my room is bloody freezing. It seems ironic to me that I've come down form Ooop North, where it's all cold and barren, and returned to the milder climate of Surrey to discover that such inventions like the "On" switch for the central heating have yet to be discovered. It's tragic, really, but what else can you do?

In other news, yesterday I neglected to actually link to Tim's blog. So here it is. Enjoy.

Insight From Rare Moment Awake

Time Asleep Last Night - 22:38
Time ReAwoken - 03:18
Time Returned to Bed - 04:02
Time Awake This Morning- 09:33

I blame Tim for this. Mainly because he started a blog that was actually interesting and vaguely worth reading. And I felt like doing similar as it provides something to fill the day. Or at least a small portion of said day.

The one drawback to this fiendish and cunning plan is that I don't actually have anything to talk about. So it's just going to be a list of times as to when I got up, when I went to bed, when I randomly woke up during the night and remembered I'd not switched off lights/computer/random other things that I should have done that I left on expecting to return to at a later date. Here is your first installment in a read that is not guaranteed to do anything but pass five minutes of your day. And that's only if you're a slow reader.
